Ardent Reel Butter® Bearing Lube utilizes the latest in lubrication engineering technology. It penetrates deep into ball bearings and roller bearings for a complete flush of dirt and foreign debris, as well as thorough lubrication.
Unlike graphite-based lubrication, Reel Butter® Bearing Lube does not contain tiny graphite particles that contribute to bearing noise and performance issues. Reel Butter® Bearing Lube provides maximum lubrication and corrosion protection for all bearing applications. The Reel Butter Oil is designed for application in areas such as the spool shaft, level wind, and other tight-fit spots. The oil has a very high surface tension when compared to its relatively low viscosity. This means the oil penetrates extremely well, but stays in place once in those tight areas. The Reel Butter Bearing Lube is specially formulated for lubrication of ball bearings and roller clutch bearings. The lube has a higher viscosity, so it is thicker, which helps keep the lube in the ball bearings for a longer period of time when the balls and race are spinning several thousand rpms every cast. Most reel bearings come with a very light oil installed from the factory. This migrates out of the bearings relatively quickly, and renders the bearing susceptible to damage or corrosion. Our bearing lube, when applied once or twice per season depending on the frequency of reel use, stays in the bearings and protects them to a much higher degree. Also, the lube is refined to an extreme level, so the molecules of polyolefins (which make up a synthetic oil) are very small, but also very uniform (they’re almost all the same size). This is important for smooth operating bearings. Some competitors’ lubes have inconsistent molecule size because they are not a synthetic-based lube, or are not refined properly. Or, some competitor’s use graphite-based lubricants. These work ok in most areas of the reel, but in bearings, the small, very hard particles of graphite act as speed bumps between the ground balls and the raceways in the bearings. This will tear up the bearing over an extended period. A first symptom of this is a noisy bearing. The spool may spin longer with some of these lubes in the store, but over the long haul and use in the field, our Reel Butter Bearing Lube is the only way to protect the reel.
